Meagan Spice
Ever since getting her first tattoo, Meagan knew she wanted to be the person permanently modifying other people. She’s been an artist her whole life and always knew she needed to make a living doing something creative. Since tattooing isn’t exactly something you can just sign up for at school, she spent years working front desks, helping artists open their own shops, learning the ins and outs of the industry, and developing her art into something “tattooable.” She finally got her foot in the door and began her apprenticeship in 2019. After nearly a decade in the industry, she’s pretty damn happy all the butt sweat and tears paid off.
Meagan describes her style as femme-traditional—a playful take on American Traditional that bends the rules and leaves plenty of room for color, personality, and a little bit of weird. Her work is inspired by nostalgia, pop culture, sweet treats, trinkets, and whatever random little treasure a goblin might pick up. She loves creating tattoos that feel like a favorite childhood memory while still making 15-year-old you think, holy shit, that’s badass. Bold and fine lines, bright colors, exaggerated details, and unexpected little elements all make their way into her work.
She’s constantly finding tattoo inspiration in things that have absolutely no business being tattoo inspiration: antique dishware, souvenir-shop keychains, old toys, weird packaging, or one extremely specific line from a song she can’t get out of her head. Meagan loves taking something that wasn’t necessarily “supposed” to be a tattoo and figuring out how to make it one. Whether you show up with a fully formed idea or just tell her, “I don’t know, I just really love frogs and old motel signs,” she’s here for it. Her goal is simple: make getting tattooed fun and turn your weird little ideas, favorite things, and nostalgic memories into something you’ll be stoked to carry around forever.
Outside the shop, Meagan is basically a professional collector of hobbies, thrift-store treasures, and anything that makes her brain go ooh, shiny. She’s usually thrifting, listening to vinyl, watching movies with friends, tinkering with some new project, or melting into her sofa after a long day. She’s extremely eclectic, loves to yap, and can probably find a conversation topic with just about anyone. She’s outspoken, brutally honest, always down to clown, and more than willing to match someone’s freak toe-to-toe. Basically, if you sit in her chair, you’re getting a tattoo, a good time, and probably a very enthusiastic conversation about whatever random thing has captured her attention that week.
